Building Playgrounds, Changing Lives

East African Playgrounds is a UK registered charity, and since 2009 we have worked in disadvantaged communities across Uganda, including community schools, hospitals and refugee camps, helping children who do not get the chance to play. We use a repeatable three-fold model to:
1. train teachers in the importance of play-based teaching for children’s learning
2. train communities and parents in the importance of play for children’s development
3. provide children in communities with high quality, sustainable and child-centred playgrounds.

With 44.3% of the population of East Africa under the age of 14, a lack of child-friendly places to play and an incredibly high level of youth unemployment across the East Africa; investment in child development is now more vital than ever.

Whether you’re interested in building a playground, interested in joining one of volunteering or gorilla trek teams or you are interested in supporting our work, our website will have all the information you need.
