‘We see development in a different way,

by creating jobs, art & places to play’.

Building Playgrounds, Changing Lives

Since 2009 East African Playgrounds has develop a model to build child centered, creative, inclusive, safe and fun playgrounds that maximise the benefits children are able to gain from play. Using our model we have trained a team of 30 professional playground builders in Uganda who have built over 90 playgrounds which will have over 145,000 children using them during their life cycle. Our playgrounds have had a huge impact on the children who use them and at the schools where they are built.

With 44.3% of the population of East Africa under the age of 14, a lack of child-friendly places to play and an incredibly high level of youth unemployment across the East Africa; investment in child development is now more vital than ever.

Whether you’re interested in building a playground, interested in joining one of volunteering or gorilla trek teams or you are interested in supporting our work, our website will have all the information you need.
