Job description – Communication Officer

Description

A large proportion of East African Playgrounds’ funding each year comes from volunteer fundraising – each summer over 200 volunteers travel out to Uganda with us and assist with our play programmes and playground building work. Almost all of our volunteers are UK university students, so during September – December each year, our team travel round UK universities, recruiting volunteers for the programme through information meetings, stalls and lecture shout-outs etc. We then use a structured programme of communications to keep in contact with potential volunteers through email, phone and text. We are seeking a driven, conscientious and skilled candidate to deliver our communications programme from our Enderby office.

The successful candidate will be the key person responsible for delivering our communications plan throughout our volunteer recruitment period– from ensuring our contacts database is kept clean, correct and up to date, using online tools to send regular scheduled emails, following up new contacts by phone and answering phone and email queries from potential volunteers.
